Contemporary Japanese Influenced Estate
Raleigh, North Carolina
This professional couple designed and built their dream home on a hillside next to a creek. The home’s unique architecture was built with the living areas surrounding an elevated swimming pool 12 feet above grade. The property presented various challenges, including the necessity of protecting the creek from runoff and mitigating erosion challenges. In addition, the customer had recently sold their mountain getaway and wanted a landscape that combined Japanese influence with a mountain landscape. This was accomplished by incorporating multiple truckloads of boulders from the mountains and using evergreens sourced from the Pacific Northwest that would tolerate Raliegh’s hot summers.
Modern Farmhouse Estate
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
This northern transplant wanted to incorporate heat-tolerate northern evergreens as well as mature shade trees and screening material. Specimens utilized include mature Weeping Norway Spruce, Fat Albert Blue Spruce, Deodar Cedar, Skylands Oriental Spruce, Eastern White Pine, Princeton American Elm, October Red Glory Maple, Rhododendron, and mature Gardenias.
Country Estate
Orange County, North Carolina
This family relocated to a 50-acre property north of Chapel Hill and needed a total landscape renovation. We removed the existing landscaping and replaced it with mature trees and shrubs, Japanese Maples, Boxwood, Norway Spruce, and created a English garden that the client requested. By using specimen-quality mature sizes the landscaping better complemented the scale of the house and grounds.
